Maui Surf School Location

Thousand Peaks, West Shore Maui

Your Maui surf lesson will take place at the surf break known as "Thousand Peaks."
This surf spot is perfect for both beginner and intermediate surfers, offering gentle, long waves in clear waters. Additionally, there is a beautiful white sandy beach with plenty of shade, making it an excellent spot for family members or friends who want to watch or enjoy some snorkeling along the beach while you're having your lesson.

Thousand Peaks is conveniently located between Mile Marker 12 and Mile Marker 12.5 off Highway 30 (Honopi'ilani Highway), right next to Ukumehame Beach Park. If you're coming from Ka'anapali Resorts, it's a 20 minute drive to the south. If you're staying in Kihei, Makena, or Wailea Resorts, it's approximately 20-30 minutes away. For those in Paia, Haiku, and the North shore areas, expect a 30-40 minute drive to reach this location.

Driving Directions to Surf Location

From Lahaina/Kaanapali/Kapalua resort areas:

Drive 10 miles south of Lahaina on Highway 30 (Honoapi’iliani Highway). As you journey along the highway, you'll come across the iconic "Leoda's Pie Shop" on your left, which serves as a helpful landmark. Once you pass the pie shop, continue driving for about 5 more minutes. Look for mile marker 12.5 on your left. When you spot the mile marker, make a right turn off the highway onto the dirt stretch situated between the sand and the road. Follow the dirt path running alongside the highway to locate your instructor.

From Kihei/Wailea resort areas:

Drive North on 31 (Pi’ilani Hwy). You will eventually get into your left lanes and take a left to continue onto 310 (North Kihei Rd.). Take 310 to the intersection with Hwy 30 (Honopi’ilani Hwy). At the light, take a left onto Hwy 30 (Honoapi’iliani Highway), heading in the direction of Lahaina. As you proceed, you'll navigate along the winding section of Highway 30, and you'll pass through a brief tunnel near the end of this stretch. After emerging from the tunnel, you'll have approximately 5 more minutes to go before you reach your destination.

Keep an eye out for mile marker 12, which serves as a crucial landmark. Once you spot mile marker 12, you'll also notice the paved parking lot of "Ukumehame Beach Park" nearby. As you pass this parking area, utilize the middle lane to patiently wait for an opportunity to make a left turn onto the dirt stretch located between the sandy shoreline and the road. Follow this dirt path that runs alongside the highway until you find your instructor eagerly waiting to greet you.

From Paia/Haiku/North shore areas:

Take Hana Hwy to the airport intersection. Make a left-hand turn onto Mayor Elmer F Cravalho Way and stay on it until it becomes Hwy. 380 (Kuihelani Hwy). You will be heading southwest toward the West Maui Mountains. At the light, take a left onto Hwy 30 (Honoapi’iliani Highway), and head towards Lahaina. As you proceed, you'll navigate along the winding section of Highway 30, and you'll pass through a brief tunnel near the end of this stretch.
